Word Power

What do words have to do with Great Living? Good question!

How about,,,, everything! Do you ever hear folks talk about "positive thinking"? Well, how does positive thinking come about? If you used words like - hate, stink, terrible, hopeless, failure, stupid, undoable etc. - this would tend to be negative thinking wouldn't it? On the other hand words like - hope, love, possibility, opening, good effort, inspiration etc. - would give you a positive outlook.

Isn't that interesting? So one could say that given a set of circumstances choosing the words we use to describe it could shape our opinion, our mood and our how we deal with it. Amazing?

Does anyone have examples to share that illustrate this point?

Self sustainable communities, the vision!

My vision for a self-sustainable community is a place where people live together in harmony and a common purpose: responsible living that nurtures the environment and allows its citizens to express their unique talents and contribute to each other.

I envision a community (many communities in the future) where all the food is grown locally, all the waste is treated locally, all the energy is generated locally and the community has a zero carbon footprint. The community imports and exports no energy and no trash.

Everyone is involved in the activities of the community and supports each other utilizing state-of-the-art technology to generate electricity, grow food, process waste and implement innovative approaches to sustainable living. Economics within the community are established through contribution, bartering and exchange of services between the participants. Wealth creation is only generated by exporting marketable services and products generated by the community and will be utilized according to the wishes of the community to improve the quality of every citizen.

Living is such a community would support human existence from childhood to maturity with local medical attention, sharing, and humane assistance by baby sitting, hosting or visiting. People would interact continuously and create strong bonds with each other in supporting their humanity and the challenges of living.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step

For a while now I have been contemplating becoming active on the web. I have been using the internet to get information, news, videos, email, but my recent preoccupation is to be a part of it. Blogging may be that medium where I will find my presence in the web. I wish that will be an experience that will bring me closer to others, give me an opportunity to share my thoughts with others, have others do the same and learn to operate this beast called the wide world web!

Ultimately, I would like to share with others my ideas, finds, and be able to contribute. I would also be very excited to know how to market things via the web and make a decent living through sharing.

Anyone who sees my blog, please participate in it and let me know your thoughts. Let's see if you can turn this loner to a person who can share!
